Admittedly I'm a newbie to this but it sure seems difficult to install anything that isn't already included on the SuSE disks. Running 8.0 and am trying to install Audacity. It requires wxWindows and I am not at all sure which of the dozens of versions to install. So I downloaded wxWindows 2.4.0 for GTK+ Then I find that GTK+ has dependencies. Now I have downloaded a pkgconfig 0.15.0 package and it seems to have successfully installed. If I then install the GLIB 1.2.8 version included, it works OK, it finds the pkgconfig software just fine. But the next dependency, ATK 1.2.0 wants GLIB 2.0+. So I got GLIB 2.2.1 and tried to install it, but it DOESN'T see pkgconfig. This message appears at the end of the configure command for GLIB 2.2.1

Checking freedesktop site is useless. No help there, no troubleshooting, no tips. I have looked at README and INSTALL files to no avail, as I don't understand what the heck they are talking about in much of them.
Does anybody out there have some guidance for a newbie about why GTK+ 2.2.1 won't see the pkgconfig routine which I KNOW is installed? Thanks in Advance!!
A) I would be careful installing/mucking around with glibc libs. B) according to http://audacity.sourceforge.net/unix.php?lang=en the dependencies are listed as such: RedHat RPM Latest Stable Version: 1.0.0-2 audacity.i386.rpm (Binary RPM, 750K) Requires: wxGTK-2.2.9-0.i386.rpm (2 MB) ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ libogg-1.0rc3-1.i386.rpm (14K) ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ libvorbis-1.0rc3-1.i386.rpm (164K) ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Did you try to install these first?
