Great for your data (looks like you may have a diferent southbridge, mines a VIA vt8235), unfortunately I have no other suggestions for your DMA problem. 1 question Is your controller onboard or a pci card? AlsoI find the hdb:pio and hdd:pio references a bit suspicious, this may be something to look into. My south bridge is a vt82c686a. I remember there is a bug in via's kt133a chipset that causes data corruption if there is high load on the pci bus. Is your south bridge included in the kt133a chipset? I guess "hdb:pio" just says that the device is also capable of pio mode.
