I have an old dot matrix printer. Nothing even slightly fancy, but it's fast and great for program listings. In the past I've just set it up with lprold as a 'raw' device - the text I want to print goes straight to it and it dumps it on the paper. That's all I want. Can I set CUPS up to do that? YaST is asking me for printer models and names, and seems to insist on installing a printer filter script which completely screws up the simplicity what I want. Failing that, how do I get LPRng to open itself on the network? LPRng has the 'raw' setting I want and the printer works correctly, but I can't find an option to make the printer open to the network so I can use it from other machines.
