I use mplayer for watching CDs, and prefer it over Ogle - except when the movie has subtitles. Can anyone yell me how to get subtitles working in MPlayer so that I can use it to watch my Jean-Pierre Jenet films?
I would be very grateful.
Surely you mean "watching DVDs" instead of "watching CDs". Anyways, the MPlayer man page is pretty clear about this: -sid <id> (also see -slang option) Turns on DVD subtitle displaying. Also, you MUST specify a number which corresponds to a DVD subtitle language (0-31). For the list of available subtitles, use with the -v option and look at the output. This is where implementation of DVD menus comes in very well. The user does not have to know the ID number of the subtitle; it's just a point-and-click interface.
