Hi fraidie-cat I don't blame you was a bit dubious about it, but I thought if it didn't work it would give me an excuse to wipe my HDD and get rid of all the progs i've tried installing previous some successful some not. But all went well all installed without a glitch. I have to say KDE 3.1 is worth waiting for, I am quite impressed.Something I forgot to mention was that I tried to install a rpm of the libxml2 it was asking for, I downloaded it from rpmfind and according to Yast it was all installed correctly but when trying to install the KDE 3.1 it still reported the same error. Still all well that ends well. Richard G. Ben Rosenberg wrote:

SuSE has already put new pkgs up for 3.1 but as it's in the supplementry directory it will most likely not show up in YOU. It was explained quite a long time ago that YOU is for system updates that are needed for the system..as 3.1 isn't needed then it most likely won't be there.
The 8.1 pkgs they have up work absolutely fine with the acception of Kopete 0.6.1..or at least it doesn't work for me. It starts, connects to AIM but will not let me start a chat with anyone unless I get messaged first...kinda useless. I've found no issues with anything else as of yet.
latah,
