The Cisco VPN client (version 3.6.2) also works well under SuSE Linux., with a couple of caveats: It won't work with the SMP kernel in 8.1, but will work with the SMP kernel in 8.0; and before building it, you have to create /usr/src/linux/include/linux/version.h from /usr/include/linux/version.h and edit the UTS_RELEASE string so that it matches the output of '/bin/uname -r.' VPN stuff in SuSE uses FreeS/Wan (http://www.freeswan.org) The default kernels are already configured to use it, but it's not configured to run all the really special stuff for MS VPN (IIRC) You'll have to install the freeswan rpm and then configure it to work for your settings. If the MS centric stuff is not enabled into the SuSE kernel, you'll have to install a patched version of it onto your box and recompile your kernel. The website can walk you through almost anything you need to know. I will say, you will need quite a lot of understanding about networking, firewalls, IP protocols, and debugging through logs. (If you can get everything right on the first try, my hat will definitely go off to you!) :)
