runlevel 1 is Single User mode. No servers should be running there. Runlevel 6 is reboot. No services of any kind should run there :)
And I hit enter too soon. I meant to add that runlevel 3 is the standard runlevel for a text based login. runlevel 5 is the graphical login. One of the two (or perhaps both) is probably your best choice -- Anders Johansson <andjoh@rydsbo.net>
