Thanks, that was easy! That leads me to my next question. What run levels should I enable SMB and NMB? The Samba HOW-TO documentation suggests levels 1, 3 and 6? Does that sound right to you? The reason I ask is the I noticed nothing else in the Runlevel editor was enabled for 1 and 6. Also, when I enabled 1 and 6 for SMB and NMB it required 1 and 6 for both the NETWORK service and SYSLOG service due to dependency.

what version of suse you running. if version 8 or 8.1 then fire up yast2 an go to the system menu area there an choose runlevel editor an click on the runlevel properties box an scroll down til you nmb an enable ti to start up in rthe run levels you want to run it, then again scroll down to you see smb an do that same. then the next time you reboot samb will startup at boot time.
