Hi Thx for sticking with me :) I think i'm nearly there with Kmail ;-) What i've noticed is that kmail will run under root account but not on the normal user account. So presume it is a permission issue... How can I test what permission kmail should run with under a normal use account? Tia Dre :-> On Sun, 2003-01-12 at 20:16, Richard Bos wrote:

I've just downloaded apt-get and ran apt-get install kdelibs3-devel_3.0.4-4
But it fails with
linux:~ # apt-get install kdelibs3-devel_3.0.4-4 E: Invalid operation install
what did I do wrong?
you should at least not type the version number, so the command should be: linux:~ # apt-get install kdelibs3-devel
and that should work..., if I type: # apt-get install kdelibs3-devel_3.0.4-4 I get: Reading Package Lists... Done Building Dependency Tree... Done E: Couldn't find package kdelibs3-devel_3.0.4-4
So there must be something else wrong. What is the result of: - apt-get check - apt-config dump Are your /etc/apt/sources.list and /et/apt/apt.conf files correct -- arawak
