From: "Vishal Khanna" <Vishal.Khanna@aitpl.co.in> Have you run "mysql_install_db" command? To run mysql, use the following command: safe_mysqld --user=mysql &
Hi All, I just installed the mySQL DB, (no I did not use the ones on the CD but downloaded the ones from sourceforge release 3.23.51-1, both client and server, all RPMs..)
Now when I try to use the same I get the following error:
lancer:/home/nag # /usr/bin/mysqladmin -u root -p password 'root007' Enter password: (entered the same password as above) lancer:/home/nag # /usr/bin/mysqladmin -u root -h lancer -p password 'root007' Enter password: (entered the same password as above /usr/bin/mysqladmin: connect to server at 'lancer' failed error: 'Host 'lancer' is not allowed to connect to this MySQL server'
I am clueless what the problem is.. the same commands did the trick earlier..???
Additionally when I use the mySQL Control centre from a win box I also get the same errors..>
What did I do wrong ? Did I miss pon some vital step
Cheers Vishal K
