Dear my friends,
Is it possible to login to another machine through telnet with "root" of the destination machine ? If yes, how ?
The anser is NO, but you can log in as a user then 'su' to root. I would recommend that you use ssh instead, it does the same thing and is far more secure. e.g.
ssh root@transistor
I have to beg to differ. I work with machines that I log into as root with telenet. That's where all my employer's zone files are, on a VAX. Our other boxen I ssh to root. -- Bob Rea mailto:gapetard@stsams.org http://www.petard.us What do you say to Jesus when he comes again? Where have you been. You said you were coming right back.
