In my opinion, SuSE 8.1 is the way to go. The thing to remember is that the bug fixes to SuSE 8.0 _is_ SuSE 8.1. KDE 3.x was introduced, after all, in SuSE 8.0. I found SuSE 8.1 to be much cleaner and faster. As a concrete example, SuSE 8.0 failed to set the refresh rates of my monitor (Viewsonic G75f) to their optimum levels. SuSE 8.1 did this flawlessly. Also, SuSE 8.1 was compiled with gcc 3.2 (IIRC, SuSE 8.0 was compiled with gcc 2.95.3), preventing any future compatibility problems. YaST2 is _much_ better in 8.1 than 8.0. There is no reason, for me at least, to pick 8.0 over 8.1. On Sunday 10 November 2002 22:08, windwalker wrote:
Query for a new user which seems more stable 8.0 or 8.1?? a friend of mine is insisting on getting 8.1 And I told them better get 8.0 as most of bugs worked out. Im hearing horror stories for a newby on 8.1 Thoughts?? Windwalker
