I installed SuSE 8.1 Pro and just love it. I'm having a problem, however. Programs I used to run in /usr/local and /usr/local/bin no longer work. The apps keep saying they cannot find certain configuration files. Can someone point me to a solution? Where should user-installed software packages now be installed so they will work properly? Thanks in advance.
Have a look in /etc/profile. In mine (suse-7.3) it has: # # Make path more comfortable # if test -z "$PROFILEREAD" ; then PATH=/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/usr/X11R6/bin:/bin for dir in $HOME/bin/$CPU $HOME/bin ; do test -d $dir && PATH=$dir:$PATH done -- Richard Bos Without a home the journey is endless
