I have the Suse firewall2 going how can I see if anyone is attacking my system? Or perhaps I should say, failing to attack my system,
take a look at /var/log there are a file called "firewall" if you are using the default configuration of Suse FW2 all packets droped/rejected are logged there ...
They certainly are, but what is the significance of a dropped packet?, I can guess the significance of a rejected packet! cheers
The DROP, only DROP the packet, never respond to it. Example, if you make a ping to a drop computer in ICMP, you will have: Time out The REJECT, REJECT the packet, and tell to your computer that YOU CANT DO IT. If you ping to a REJECTED computer, you will have: Destination computer innacessible o like it. -- www.geekcode.com -----BEGIN GEEK CODE BLOCK----- Version: 3.1 GCS/cc/e/it d++ s+:+ a-- C++$ UL+++$ E++ W+++$ w--- O---- M V- PS PE+++ Y+ PGP- t+ 5 X++ R tv+ b++ DI-- D+ G e++$ h! r++ y++ ------END GEEK CODE BLOCK------ - A veces creo que hay vida en otros planetas, y a veces creo que no.
