printing greyscale on a lexmark

Hi everyone. I can't afford the colour ink cartridges on my Z32 any longer so I removed it and am just using the black cartridge. Problem: if there is any coloured text, it doesn't print. I've changed to greyscale on the printer icon but no luck. Any ideas anyone or where I can get colour ink at reasonable prices? Thanks, Steve.
