On Fri, 19 Jul 2002, Dan just had to get this off his chest:
Hi
Im having a bit of a problem with fetchmail and procmail, i juse mutt as my mail reader but it says that the folder issent a mailbox and cant read them, as i can see it procmail send all mails into one big file. My procmailrc file looks like this <snip> [..] LOGFILE=$MAILDIR/from # Her gemmes log over hvilke mails LOCKFILE=$HOME/.lockmail #fil til at lave lås med # Skulle sørge for at dele mails op Kun vis den oven for ikke virker. # :0: # * ^Subject:.*Other Digest # |formail +1 -ds cat >>this_lists_mailbox
# Første liste er suse listen så der tjekkes for # om To eller Cc indeholder suse :0 ^^^ You don't lock your mailboxes. This could definitly pose a problem when your MTA or POP client wants to deliver multiple mails at once. If you deliver to a file always use :0: [lockfile] From man procmailrc: By using any number of recipes you can presort your mail extremely straightforward into several mailfolders. Bear in mind though that the mail can arrive concurrently in these mailfolders (if several procmail programs happen to run at the same time, not unlikely if a lot of mail arrives). To make sure this does not result in a mess, proper use of lockfiles is highly recommended.
Not neccesary when using Maildir delivery btw. Theo -- Theo v. Werkhoven ICBM 52 8 24N , 4 32 40E. S.u.S.E 7.3 x86 Kernel 2.4.16-4GB See headers for PGP/GPG info.
