So now I have a link on my desktop ... do you have any idea how I can change the icon for that link (normallhy I can do it but clicking on the image has no effect)?
You're in kde, right? Normally, you'd right-click on the desktop icon and select Properties. Then clicking on the icon will give you a popup where you can select a new icon. Other icons -> browse will enable you to select any xpm/png file as the icon. If that fails you can always set the icon manually. In the directory ~/Desktop are the files associated with the desktop icons. Edit the one associated with the icon you're working with, and look for a line like Icon=foobar and change it to Icon=/path/to/new/icon.xpm for example, my yahoo messenger desktop file has a line Icon=/opt/ymessenger/bin/yahoo_kde.xpm HTH Anders
