Is there a doc for setting up network printers with CUPS?
I've tried going through the proces with Yast2 but it does not seem to work.
Is there a manual installation process? Where can I find it.
Thanks,
Babu
Hi Babu,
I'm not sure how to do this in Yast2, but I think I can provide some help by doing it directly in CUPS.
I have a machine (tux) which has a local printer which uses CUPS. The printer is called epson870. It is properly configured and working.
From another machine running CUPS, I configure it to use the printer on tux over the network.
On the remote machine, go through the CUPS add printer screens. At "device", I chose "Internet printing protocol http". For device URI, I specified:
http://tux:631/printers/epson870
...and then it works. I believe the generic format would be:
http://print_server:631/printers/printer_name
Hope this helps,
Andy
