unable to add applications via ftp

      I just did a SuSE 8.0 Base install Via FTP. I am now trying to add a few
applications. However after selecting the application and install method
(ftp) I get an error file not found on server or connection refused.  I
can ping and ftp to the server no problem. the error is returned
immidiately.   Anyone have this problem
