* Martin Richard (martin.richard20@sympatico.ca) [020603 14:07]: ::Hi! :: ::I looked a bit on the list but I don't find a clear answer... I want to ::update my 8.0 running system to KDE 3.01 because I heard that some ::programs run faster and less bugs. ::Where can I get the best rpm files to do it (Supplementary/KDE on Suse ::FTP Site or KDE Site... what's the difference?) and after I have it, how ::can I install it the best to avoid big problems? Can someone add my explanation of the KDE upgrade to a FAQ somewhere? A longer explaination can be found in the archives..but the gist of it is this. 1. cd in /tmp 2. type this " mkdir base dev apps " 3. From the supplementry directory download all the updates into the directories that match..ie base pkgs go in /tmp/base. 4. After each set has been installed with " rpm -Uvh --nodeps --force *.rpm " you should then run SuSEconfig. 4a. Please install in this order... base then dev then apps. 5. An FYI the Keramik style is in experimental and it works quite well. :) -=Ben --=====-----=====-- mailto:ben@whack.org --=====-- If it's true that our species is alone in the universe, then I'd have to say that the universe aimed rather low and settled for very little. -GC --=====-----=====--
