I know this was discussed a few weeks ago and I have tried to follow previous advice, but I can't seem to get my linksys WPC-11 wireless network card to work in SuSE 8.0. It was working in 7.3 with and still works in windows on the same computer so I know it's not a hardware problem. I have temporarily disabled the encryption on the wireless hub, so the problem is not in the encryption. I have included the output of ifconfig and the relevant section of /var/log/messages. Running dhcpcd manually results in a time-out error. I would appreciate any advice (and maybe an explanation of why SuSE apparently changed the pcmcia setting files, included the drivers for wireless interface cards, and yet provides absolutely no documentation on how to use them!)
PCMCIA wireless in 8.0 is fscked as you found out. Check out susefaq.sourceforge.net for my workarounds (which while they apply to the Orinoco cards may still be useful for you).
entry in /var/log/messages on insertion of card:

If the prism2_cs.o the driver you were using in 7.3? I think almost very wireless card is set to use this driver in the 8.0 config. I changed mine to use the driver I was using before and it is working. Best Regards, Keith -- LPIC-2, MCSE, N+ Got spam? Get spastic http://spastic.sourceforge.net
