I'm having problems with an Intel PCI EtherExpress Pro 100 network adapter in a IBM Netvista (onboard). When I install Suse 7.3 connecting to a ftp server it hangs. I had to add another network adapter (3COM 9x5) and the installation went fine.
After installation, when I work with the EtherExpress the box hangs after a few hours. When I work with the 3Com it goes fine day after day. This is the messages from the kernel when I do "insmod eepro100.o":

Does anybody know if there's a recent driver for that network adapter? Does Suse 8.0 fix this problem?
I have had problems in the past with the EtherExpress Pro. I ended up buying another card (RealTek, I think -- module is 8139too). But, I believe there are at several modules you can use for the EEPro. Perhaps using a different one will help you: eepro100 (the one you are using) eexpress (perhaps not right for your adapter) eepro e100 You could also try the advice given in the error message: Please add "autodetect=1" to force probe I *think* this would be done by adding a line to /etc/modules.conf: options eepro100 autodetect=1 I'd put it right after: alias eth1 eepro100 -- Robert C.
