I'm running SuSE 8.0 with KDE 3.0 and using Konqueror to view any web page with a decent amount of text. My exact steps are this: I move cursor to beginning of the text I want to highlight. Click and hold down the left mouse button and simultaneously move the mouse as I highlight the complete text I want to copy. Once the text is highlighted I release the left mouse button and place the cursor over the highlighted text. Now I click the right mouse button. I would expect an option to 'copy'...however it does not exist. The only option to 'copy' functions as a 'copy to' a directory for the entire html document. Basicall this same operation will work when editing a text docuement in Kate. Highlight the text holding down the left mouse button while moving the cursor over the appropriate text. Now release the left button and move the cursor over the highlighted text and press the right mouse button. There will be an option to 'copy'. However, this same method also works to copy/paste text from web pages using Mozilla. In Mozilla I can highlight and copy text...then paste it into a text document without using any keyboard input.
On my v7.3, I take the cursor to the beginning of the text I want copied. I press SHIFT and keep it pressed while I move the cursor to the end of the text. There, I let go of SHIFT and press simultaneously CTRL and C ("C" for copy). Now, go to where I want the text copied and press simultaneously CTRL and V ("V" as in paste...). That places the text there. A variant is when you don't want to simply copy the text, but you want to move it: instead of the CTRL+C, use CTRL+X ("X" to exorcise...)
Your operation does not work in KDE 3.0. Holding down the shift key seems to disable the ability to highlight text from a web page. However, I am able to highlight text as I described above and by pressing CTRL+C it will copy that text. Now I am able to paste using CTRL+V into a text document. But again, when using Mozilla, an option to 'copy' is presented by simply clicking the right mouse button on any text that has been highlighted. This is not the case with Konqueror. This all seems like a long way to go...but thanks for your feedback. Maybe this 'right click' method simply does not exist in Konqueror.
