You are not alone. I am also seeing this. I *think* (actually, I'm pretty sure) it started to occur after I upgraded to KDE 3.0.1.
Unfortunately, I have no clue how to fix it. Going back to KDE 3.0 is not an option for me since version 3.0.1 works alot better in my case.
