# I'm trying to install SuSE 7.3 on my adaptec scsi
# disk, but not sure how to trnslate the I/O of "fc000"
# where 000 is zeroes. Please can someone knowledgeable
# translate this hex value into the format of "0x???",
# where ??? is the numeric I/O that the scsi uses in my
# system. The installer needs to know that value in
# order to load module at installation. This disk worked
# with previous versions out of the box. I tried to load
# both the old and new drivers in the modules disks, but
# fail since it needs to know the I/O ports.
I'm going to make some assumptions, usually a bad practice, but I 'm reacting to what you asked.
I think that the 7.3 installation is using initrd to start. Since the initrd doesn't know about aic7xxx.
You probably need to load that module, either on the lilo command line at boot up, or abort the installation from the CD and load the module.
After installation, this module needs to added to /etc/rc.config at INITRD_MODULES="aic7xxx", then run mk_initrd so that your initrd in /boot knows about aic7xxx.
Just my thoughts. Hope it helps.
