Hello, Max. Although I haven't had a chance to try it yet, I bought an HP Dekjet 960cse the other day mainly because of their Linux driver availability. I will be testing it out in the next few days, so can pass along my findings then if you like. http://hpinkjet.sourceforge.net/ I used to have an Epson 680 which worked quite well. It was even autodetected on the USB port. And it's cheap. I do have a caveat for you, though. In the past I have had HP, Canon and Epson inkjet printers. There are some pros and cons to each: Canon - I like that they have separate cartridges for the different colours. That way, you only replace the one that runs out, instead of having to throw away the other two colours as well. Print heads tend to get furred up pretty easily though if you don't stick to premium paper. Epson - Great quality printing at very reasonable prices. Tri-colour cartridge counts against them. Print heads tend to dry out if printer is not used regularly. HP - Newer models have very high resolutions available resulting in great output. You can basically pick your price point and get a printer for that price. Tri-colour cartridges instead of single colours, but HP cartridges come with a fresh print head on each cartridge, so you don't have to worry about cleaning them so much. Hope this helps, Stuart.

05/16/02 02:59PM >>> Hi, I am new to this list, but I have been a SuSE linux user since V 7.1. I wish to purchase a printer that is highly compatible with linux in general, and SuSE linux in particular without the necessity of an overly obscure or arcane workaround. Color printing is an absolute must as currently I have a Lexmark Z51 which has only mono support.
I would like any recommendations that experienced users may have. I have visted www.linuxprinting.org and found some little, but usefull information there. I am considering a Canon S800, or an Epson ?C80? printer of the type that use separate cymk cartridges (which seem preferable over the expensive lexmark solution). Also I am considering, as a last resort, a Lexmark Z53 or Z55 and am aware of the lexmark linux drivers available for these. Please share your knowledge and experiences in this matter with me.... especially in regard to the above mentioned models or any other model or make that you might recommend for quality color printing.
