sorry...our work-net is still M$ (but I am working on that!) so I am using Outlook.
Thats ok Kevin.
Yes I meant the printed ref. manual included with the purchased distro. Because they changed to the sysconfig scheme used by other distros you will need to reference that manual as I have not found any online docs from SuSE that emulated the information in the printed manual.
Well ok, but I do not know what I shall set it to. Is it sendmail, that does it that I cannot send from Kmail ?? Its set to runlevel 3 and 5 as default.
Because you are coming from 7.x I am under the impression you are already familiar with the runlevel editor so all you need to get up to speed on is the sysconfig scheme which is explained in the printed manual.
Not at all. What I did was to go into Yast1, and set the boot up from graphics to ascii.
Hopefully the pointers to where the info is helps, if not feel free to send me more questions.
Why can I send from Netscape's mailer, and not from Kmail ??.

Sorry Kevin, but I got your reply in Kmail, and could not answer you from there.

hehe...I had the same issues, you must be coming from v6.x aye?
No I came from 7.3.
after installing your packages you must use the runlevel editor to auto start/stop services. See the runlevel editor section in the included manual of the distro for details.
Do you mean the REFERENCE manual ??. How can I set that with the runlevel editor ??.
There are just a few options there. Think you mean the one in Yast 2 ??.
Do you use Kmail ??.
