Tom: Since you're using the ide scsi emulation, you should be using the SCSI CD devices, ie - /dev/sr0, /dev/sr1, etc. On my IDE CD-R system: cjshaker@shaker-k7: ll /dev/cdrecorder lrwxrwxrwx 1 cjshaker trusted 8 Feb 10 03:40 /dev/cdrecorder -> /dev/sr1 cjshaker@shaker-k7: ll /dev/sr1 brw-rw---- 1 cjshaker trusted 11, 1 Sep 23 18:54 /dev/sr1 cjshaker@shaker-k7: ll /dev/cdrom lrwxrwxrwx 1 cjshaker trusted 8 Feb 10 03:40 /dev/cdrom -> /dev/sr0 cjshaker@shaker-k7: ll /dev/sr0 brw-rw---- 1 cjshaker trusted 11, 0 Sep 23 18:54 /dev/sr0 cjshaker@shaker-k7: Chris Shaker cjshaker@shaker-net.com Tom Nielsen wrote:
I had my CD-rom and CD-rw working fine. I think a program I installed messed them up. Now, when I try to "mount" them, it says "mount: /dev/cdrecorder : unknown device" Same with the CD-rom But if I click on the desktop link it will open it up and I can see the files on the CD.
Also, the cd-rom, when clicked on, opens the cd-rw even though it points to the cd-rom.
I need to create a scsi-ide link to be able to use the CD-rw. That's why I'm going thru this trouble. Below's my fstab:
/dev/hda4 / ext2 defaults 1 1 /dev/hda2 /boot ext2 defaults 1 2 /dev/cdrom /media/cdrom auto ro,noauto,user,exec 0 0 /dev/cdrecorder /media/cdrecorder auto ro,noauto,user,exec 0 0 devpts /dev/pts devpts defaults 0 0 /dev/fd0 /media/floppy auto noauto,user,sync 0 0 proc /proc proc defaults 0 0 usbdevfs /proc/bus/usb usbdevfs defaults,noauto 0 0 /dev/hda1 /windows/C vfat noauto,user 0 2 /dev/hdd1 /windows/E vfat noauto,user 0 2 /dev/sda4 /media/zip auto noauto,user 0 0 /dev/hda3 swap swap pri=42 0 0
Here's my lilo
append = "hdc=ide-scsi hdb=ide-scsi" boot = /dev/hda vga = normal read-only menu-scheme = Wg:kw:Wg:Wg prompt timeout = 80 message = /boot/message lba32

Let me know if I need provide anything else. A step-by-step would be nice.
Thanks, Tom
