Richard:
I've had excellent luck with the Yamaha CRW-4416S CD-R (SCSI ),
and with the TEAC CDRW 241040X (IDE). Both write CD-Rs just
fine with SuSE 7.3 Pro, and the TEAC has been verified with WinXP
Home.
Looks like this is the same TEAC that you're considering. I got mine
at Price Club a few months ago.

Short question, I would like to buy a CD writer that is good and actually works with linux. A test review in a magazine rated Teac CD524E and Mitsumi CR4809 as the top 2. My preference goes to the Teac, does anyone have experience with this CD -writer on Suse? I searched the list archives and the net, but there is hardly any info (at least for the Teac: http://www.teac.com/DSPD/24X10X40_Retail_Kit.htm)
