/dev/sr0 for the cd-rw /dev/sr1 for the cd-rom When I run "cat /proc/sys/dev/cdrom/info" i get hdb for the cd-rw hdc for the cd-rom Not sure if that helps. I know the links are screwed up, but I can't figure out how to get them back to normal. I think this had something to do with VMware. ??? I tried it and hated it. Thanks for all the help!!!! messed
them up. Now, when I try to "mount" them, it says "mount:
/dev/cdrecorder :
unknown device" Same with the CD-rom But if I click on the desktop link
it
will open it up and I can see the files on the CD.

Let me know if I need provide anything else. A step-by-step would be
nice.

Can you give us the output of `ls -l /dev/cdrom` and `ls -l /dev/cdrecorder`? Off the top of my head, it sounds as if your links are messed up. (Those devices should just be links to the real devices, such as /dev/hdc.)
Also, your dmesg would help in figuring out where the cdrom and cdrecorder links should point to.
