Hi, Are you using XFree86 4.2.0? It seems this version is less forgiving about empty lines in the fonts.scale file than previous ones. The problem is with one of the fonts.scale.* files in the truetype font directory. I believe it was fonts.scale.efont-serif-ttf, but I am not sure. Check this (and the other) fonts.scale.* files in /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/truetype/ for empty lines and remove them. Run SuSEconfig again and the problem should be solved.
