Hi, Finally having a new machine running, I wanted to compile KDE 2.2.2 now... but running trying to configure kdelibs tells me that my openssl version is too old: "You're missing openSSL, or your version is too old (before 0.9.5a)." but having a standard SuSE 7.3 install with KDE 2.2.1 running, I thought that I had to have a recent version and checked: jliedtke@cuddle:/usr/local/src> l /usr/lib/libcry* -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 107934 Sep 20 05:29 /usr/lib/libcrypt.a lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 23 Dec 16 00:00 /usr/lib/libcrypt.so -> ../../lib/libcrypt.so.1* lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 18 Dec 16 00:01 /usr/lib/libcrypto.so.0 -> libcrypto.so.0.9.6* -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 922986 Sep 24 03:56 /usr/lib/libcrypto.so.0.9.6* ...to me, that looks like a version that should be current enough... 1) Does anybody know my why ./configure give that err? 2) I have compiled openssl before and got the sources for 0.9.6b somewhere, so compiling should not be a problem... but I was always told I should deinstall the openssl-rpms of my distro before compiling and installing another version... do I really need to do that? 2a) If so, will my currently installed KDE2.2.1 be able to use openssl0.9.6b as well? 2b) Can't I use the openssl-version of SuSE and my selfcompiled one side-by-side for different versions of KDE somehow?
