Hi,
Looks like the server isn't running, doesn't it. To ask the obvious
question? have you done all the stuff in the
/usr/share/doc/packages/hylafax/README.SuSE file including uncommenting the
/etc/inittab 'respawn' entry and set START_HYLAFAX TO 'YES'? Having said
that, I think the hylayfax server can start even without a modem added,
although it won't be able to send/receive faxes obviously - it just accepts
connections on port 4559 but it doesn't look like your getting that far.

Hi,
I think someone else has already indicated this but you probably want to check whether the hylafax server is actually running, i.e. '/etc/init.d/hylafax status', if it is running try tail'ing your message file to see what connections are being made/refused, i.e. tail -f /var/log/messages on another (x)terminal.
Also, are you running a firewall?

Have a look at the /var/spool/fax/etc/hosts.hfaxd file. It contains
entries
for the people/hosts that are allowed to send faxes.
It contains explanatory text and entries for the localhost at least.

rc.config is with START_HYLAFAX="yes"
Nevertheless, each time I want to send a fax, I first have to re-run faxsetup from root, otherwise i receive the message "connection
denied".
What did I do wrong ?
Rgds to all, Jacek
