Hello,
Just one incident that happened today.
At work I have a Postfix e-mail servor on SuSE 7.1 that has worked without
problem for two months.
This morning I decided to reboot it for now forgotten reasons.
After rebooting, I want to get my mail on another host and I have, with
kmail, the following answer:
I said:
"PASS <your password>"
And then the server said:
"ERR-invalid login"
Postfix did not accept my password anymore.
I spent the whole day trying to understand why.
I must say that I spent many days trying (without success) to install
Cyrus-Imap.
Finally I try a telnet:
telnet 110
+OK lx93 Cyrus POP3 V2,0.R server ready
user abarthel
+OK Name is a valid mailbox
pass ....
+OK Maildrop locked and ready
list
+OK (but nothing appears although the mailbox is full)
etc...
What astonished me was to read Cyrus POP3 V2,0.R server
Why Cyrus POP3? I forgot which server was announced before.
Thus I go in /etc/rc.config where I read the following line:
START_CYRUS=yes
I change yes => no then inits and init2
I try again and miracle!! I can get my mail again.
I don't understand because Cyrus-Imap should not interfere with POP3
Secondly I often typed <rccyrus start> before without changes
Tomorrow, I'll type again START_CYRUS=yes in /etc/rc.config hoping to be
finally able to use Imap
Does anybody have an answer for that problem?
It is obviouly a problem of password but which one?
