Hi everyone. Our PII/300 Samba server under 7.2 has almost given in under the strain of having to serve out graphic laden word 97 rubbish over the last 6 months. We are thinking of getting a faster box with a faster disk. I figured that if I stuck /etc , /var/named and our shared directories up to CD, installed 7.2 on the new box and then overwrote the said directories with the cd copies then that'd get us well on the way. Do I give the new box the same IP as the old box (seems easier for the DNS files) and reconfigure the old box or vica versa? Anyone done this before? Cheers, Steve.
