When I try and mount the zip drive I get the error ' /dev/sda4 is not a valid block device'.
I assume there was a ZIP medium in the drive. If that's so, it might be that your ZIP disk was partitioned differently as not all manufacturers do it the same. To check if your disk is partitioned and what partition is used, issue a 'fdisk -l /dev/sda' when the disk is in the drive. BTW, that there is an entry in /etc/fstab tells you nothing unless a 'mount /media/zip' succeeds for the same disk. Philipp -- Penguins to save the dinosaurs -- Handelsblatt on Linux for S/390
