# Your root drive is now reiserfs, reboot and enjoy (hopefully)!
#
# If your not using SuSE standard kernels, make sure reiserfs is enabled
# there, your system won't boot if it is. Also DO NOT format your boot
# partition with reiserfs, LILO doesn't know how to handle it yet.
Nick, thanks again.
It worked. I am not sure how well yet because I have not reformatted the
original partition and copied it back.
I did many tests on file transfer safety and speed. Your method with cpio was
over twice as fast as rsync which I have used for years to copy safely. cpio
ended up doing the copy of a 10Gb+ drive in only 55 minutes. I gave up on rsync
when it took 5.5 minutes on 1Gb transfer, while cpio took only a bit over 2
minutes.
By the way, I use BootMagic from Powerquest and lilo 21.6 on the reiserfs will
boot. The pain was getting the kernel booted with the boot diskette so that I
could adjust lilo.conf and invoke lilo.
