Hi, I have a Compaq Proliant 4500 with smart array controller, and have successfully installed SuSE 7.2 The problem is that to boot from the array controller (instead of from a floppy (I hate those things!)) I need to build the cpqarray driver into the kernel statically (instead of as a module). On my development machine, I have installed the kernel sources. When I run "make menuconfig" I get a strange selection of defaults. I don't (yet) understand enough about what all the kernel options are - nor do I want to waste time going through ALL the options to check. SO - how to I get the config of the SuSE kernel as a base to start with? I only need to statically enable the compaq array in the block devices section, and really leave all the rest alone. What do I need to do to transfer the bzImage to the PL4500 - just call it vmlinuz in /boot yes? What about initrd? I should have no new modules so I don't think I need to build a new initrd. Am I correct? Anything I'm missing? Any help/ideas/tips greatly appreciated Thanks, Tony
