I have a data file sent by email to me everyday and the alternative is for it to be sent to me via ftp.
I would prefer the ftp method as the mime attachment of the file keeps getting scrambled. I only want that user to be able to ftp in from the internet and no others.
Have a look at "man ftpaccess" However, the standard FTP protocol uses plain text passwords, so should not really be used for confidential information. If your sender has secure shell facilities he/she could use "scp" which is a secure way to transmit data. Have a look at "man ssh" and "man scp". Cliff
