I've been using it for over a year through a Linksys router, although I will probably change this for al Linux based Smoothwall www.smoothwall.org solution, as I have a need to setup a permanent VPN to a small network that I support that is on the end of an ADSL line I just need to change their FreeSco www.freesec.org box for a smoothwall. Have a look through the email archives, this has been discussed before, be aware that NTL's DHCP server remembers the MAC address of the first NIC you connect to the cable modem, so make sure you keep a note of it, it cost me a few hours of grief until I figured out what was going on. I have yet to connect a Linux box to NTL but I know many people have done it without any problems and at least it's Ethernet. What is mind-blowing is downloading large files at 70-75KBytes per second and that fact that the connection is always on. I Couldn't live without it now, I have a network at home with a mix of boxen running SuSE and Windoze and a highly IT literate family who can all surf at the same time. Basically it's Brill. Anybody in the UK using ntl's broadband cable system with Linux in the UK?
I want to use this service, but not if I can't use Linux!
