I think it might be the cable also... Something is strange because I have about 4 machines with FA310TX's running both linux and windows (at various times). Never had a problem configuring that card on either Win or Linux.
If the problem were with the cable only then ifconfig would list a proper HWaddr and not 00:00:00:00:00:00! IMHO, if the driver (via-rhine.o) doesn't get a proper HW address when it's loaded then it will not work. (Well, it's possible to set the MAC address for some cards (perhaps to all zeros too) but I don't think this case is relevant here.) -- Alexandr.Malusek@imv.liu.se
