Hi.
Running SuSE 7.2.
I'm trying to get diald and ppp to work here, but I have some troubles getting it to run. Here is a copy of the dctrl screen:

In fact the site is NOT connected even if shown.
Sun Jul 1 10:37:41 2001 CEST Running pppd (pid = 7499). Sun Jul 1 10:38:41 2001 CEST pppd startup timed out. Check your pppd options. Killing pppd.
In my options there are the following items active:
duron:~ # grep -v ^# /etc/ppp/options | grep -v ^$ debug noauth modem asyncmap 0 nodetach lcp-echo-interval 30 lcp-echo-failure 4 lcp-max-configure 60 lcp-restart 2 idle 600 noipx novj noccp nobsdcomp nodeflate noaccomp nopcomp duron:~ #

What is that ?.
Sun Jul 1 10:38:41 2001 CEST Disconnected. Call duration 60 seconds. Sun Jul 1 10:38:41 2001 CEST IP transmitted 0 bytes and received 0 bytes. Sun Jul 1 10:38:41 2001 CEST Closing /dev/modem Sun Jul 1 10:38:42 2001 CEST Delaying 45 seconds before clear to dial.
And the show starts over and over again.
Can anybody help me ??.
P.S. my chatsript is shown to get opened, but I cannot see it is.
First check your /var/log/messages file. See if your getting errors to the effect of: "unable to load module tty-ldisc-3" or similiar. I had failures on the PPPdaemon running kernel 2.4.x If this is the case you need to create aliases in /etc/modules.conf pointing to the correct drivers. the PPP modules changed in kernel 2.4.x to include features like asynchronious, multilink, and etc. For my configuration (Dial-on-demand) I encountered this problem. A quick edit of modules.conf and a reboot fixed it. Assuming this is indeed your problem here's my fix. in the: /etc/modules.conf alias tty-ldisc-3 ppp_async alias ppp0 ppp_async alias ppp1 ppp_async Hope this helps, ya Ambrosius - -- ¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ???????????????????????????????
