-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 - -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi all: I have a brand new SuSE 7.2 system running on a Asus A7V system. I have one DVD as master on the secondary controller and one CD-RW as slave on the secondary controller both are ide devices. Atempting to get my CD-RW to work I have done the following to my SuSE 7.2 system. I went to root and in lilo.conf, I have added the line, append="hdd=ide-scsi" in boot.local I have added the line /sbin/modprobe ide-scsi. I have not done anything to fstab and mtab, keep while in /dev I opened a terminal and entered the following: rm -f cdrecorder cdrom dvd ln -s /dev/scd0 /dev/cdrecorder ln -s /dev/hdc /dev/cdrom ln -s /dev/hdc /dev/dvd I ran the following commands lilo, sync and then I rebooted. when it's up, I ran cdrecord -scanbus and did not smile. I get the following: cdrecord: No such file or directory. Cannot open SCSI driver. Here is my lilo.conf file: boot = /dev/hde vga = 771 read-only menu-scheme = Wg:kw:Wg:Wg lba32 prompt timeout = 80 message = /boot/message image = /boot/vmlinuz label = linux root = /dev/hde1 initrd = /boot/initrd append = "append=hdd=ide-scsi" image = /boot/vmlinuz.suse label = suse root = /dev/hde1 initrd = /boot/initrd.suse append = "append=hdd=ide-scsi" optional image = /boot/memtest.bin label = memtest86 My fstab file: /dev/hde1 / reiserfs defaults 1 1 /dev/cdrecorder /media/cdrecorder auto ro,noauto, user, exec 0 0 /dev/cdrom /media/cdrom auto ro,noauto, user, exec 0 0 devpts /dev/pts devpts defaults 0 0 /dev/dvd /media/dvd auto ro,noauto, user, exec 0 0 /dev/hde3 /home reiserfs defaults 1 2 /dev/fd0 /media/floppy auto noauto, user, sync 0 0 proc /proc proc defaults 0 0 /dev/hde2 swap swap pri=42 0 0 My mtab file: /dev/hde1 / reiserfs rw 0 0 proc /proc proc rw 0 0 devpts /dev/pts devpts rw,mode=0620,gid=5 0 0 /dev/hde3 /home reiserfs rw 0 0 shmfs /dev/shm shm rw 0 0 /proc/bus/usb /proc/bus/usb usbdevfs rw 0 0 I have pretty much exhusted my knowledge. I hope that I supplied enough information for some one to spot the error. Thanks for all your help in advance.
