I recommend dell. They have great service and support. They also sell pc's preloaded with linux (redhat). -----Original Message----- From: Timothy R.Butler [mailto:tbutler@uninetsolutions.com] Sent: Wednesday, June 06, 2001 5:36 PM To: jennifer moter; SuSE Mailing List Subject: Re: [SLE] linux compatible out-of-the box pc? Which pc's are linux compatible out of the box?
I recommend Dell. I've received extremely good service on their products, and everything you can expect to work works. Just make sure to choose the non-integrated options on the Dimension L series or go for the slightly more expensive 4100 series. Not all of their components work in Linux, but most of their systems have available options to insure 100% Linux compatability. I think you will also find feature-per-feature that Dell will generally be cheaper than any major competitor or even Mom 'n Pop shops. Finally, for anyone considering a laptop - Dell's laptops work well in Linux too. :-) -Tim -- ----------------------------------------------------------------- Timothy R.
