I've given up on getting my hp pavilion with the combo audio/modem card to work on linux.
Which pc's are linux compatible out of the box? Are there drivers for any flat screen displays?
I decided to get one preinstalled with Linux, so I was sure all the hardware would work with the OS. I got an Altura from Pogo (http://www.pogolinux.com/), but there are several other good choices, like VA Linux Systems (http://www.valinux.com/). Pogo doesn't have much of a selection of distributions, though, so I installed SuSE immediately after I got it.

Most do not have a great selection of OS's to install, although I'd like a Penguin Computing computer if I could afford one. But, I am the trickle upgrade person :-). Matt
