The problem with tar is that if a disc gets corrupted or justs blows... you have to install suse.. and then make the restore (remember that a fresh suse 7.1 pro takes a looooong loooooong time ....and the you have to restore the tar..... currently im doing something like this. "dump -L backup -0 /" (dump uses per default /dev/st0 to dump the data...) if something goes bad i belive that a full restore can by made with "restore" (hope). Does anyone know a good program for making backups in suse 7.1 pro version?. We have a HP Surestore (blabla)24 (24GB) at work and i'm currently doing the backups with dump.... i tried to make them with amanda but is quite complex...
Another question... is it a way of mirroring 2 IDE disks? (without ide raid)
