Kevin, Glad I could help some! As to using rc.config, I haven't tried it ("If it ain't broke, don't fix it!"), but it seems to me that it could be done by doing something like the following. Note: It's purely hypothetical for me ATM. I have NOT done this! NETCONFIG="_1 _0" (for example) IP_ADDR_x="$needed_IP_ADDR" NETDEV_x="eth0:1" (second Interface on FIRST NIC) IFCONFIG_0="$IP_ADDRESS broadcast $ BROADCAST_ADDRESS netmask $NETMASK up" Of course, replacing all variables to match your situation. I hadn't thought of this before today, honestly. I'd like to hear from SuSE folks as to if they know this to work. Good luck! Thank you, Geordon, for your help and suggestions. It worked just like you described. I also found more information in my UNIX System Administration Handbook under the magical phrase "virtual interface." Any suggestions on how to make it work at boot-up without a boot.local file and with the /etc/rc.config file system? In the IPADDR-x, NETDEV_x and IFCONFIG_x sections, there doesn't seem to be room for a second instance of an interface configuration. Thank you again for your complete, accurate and timely help. -Kevin Zembower
