Hi, Everything that is in /proc is virtual. I.e. they are not "real" files, but merely pointers to memory segments, and interfaces to the kernels subsystem. You wouldn't be advised to mess around with /roc/kcore tho, as it represents your active memory :-) -tosi
Hi all, Could someone please tell me a bit about /proc/kcore? From what I have read it is program crash data. Is it's purpose solely for troubleshooting? If so, once the error/application causing the error has be repaired can the file be emptied? If so, how? The reason for asking is that I have a really small hdd and space being at a premium I would like to reclaim as much as I can.
