I recall a similar problem with one of our machines... you can try: 0) Take a look at SuSE's database, they have posted a solution to printing problems involving 7.1 More "home made" solutions: 1) Install the printer through YaST (not YaST2) (I guess you should remove all current configurations). If that's not enough, then 2) Remove all CUPS rpms and again using YaST setup your printers...
