Can anyone inform me what is technical background differences between SuSE and Red Hat? What are technical adavantages of SuSE over Red Hat, mandrake, Slackware, Debian?
no time, so I simply point you to one item: go to the Linux support pages from SAP (don't knwo the URL, only got the page itself as email some days ago). They will tell you to go to ftp.suse.com and install the latest SuSE kernel, _regardless_ of what distribution you are using (i.e. also for RedHat). Those guys did some testing... ;-)
Hm, http://www.sap.com/solutions/technology/linux/tech_tips.htm says: ... Breaking completely new ground with Linux, we decided to concentrate on one distribution to start with, which is Red Hat. We hope that in the future we will be able to support more than one distribution. ... However looking a bit further, one finds a more recent: http://www.sap.com/solutions/technology/linux/platforms.htm :-) Volker
